Journalism is the foundation of my professional writing career. My first published pieces appeared in Running Times and Cincinnati Magazine as I was earning my degree in Magazine Journalism at Ball State University. I then spent five years working full-time on staff for B2B magazines.
As an editor, I learned just how valuable freelance journalists can be. I remember the relief I felt when my best freelancer agreed to take on a new assignment, knowing that she would deliver exactly what I wanted by the deadline. I also remember the frustration I felt when I had to chase down late assignments, wondering if the writer was going to get the story to me in time and how much editing I’d have to do to get it across the finish line.
Now that the roles are reversed, I strive to be the freelancer that I adored as an editor. The one you can trust to get the job done and done well. The one who will offer some solutions when a problem is encountered. The one who meets deadlines and exceeds expectations.
If you’re an editor looking to add a freelancer to your Rolodex, please check out my magazine samples and shoot me an email if you’re interested in working together.
